World Book Day

A very successful week which culminated in an interesting day for all.

Some of the activities for the week included a story writing competition, using Story Spinner CD to inspire children to write their stories and shared reading of interesting short stories.

The highlight of the week was that children dressed as a book character or author.  We were fortunate to have the well-known story teller - Jan Blake - tell a story to our children.  The children were enthralled and captivated by the enthusiastic delivery of her story.

 

 

This Is ME Workshops - by FLAVA

This workshop helps students to be more confident to speak out against bullying and peer pressure and gives them more confidence. The workshops encourage young people to engage with each other and the local community police and build more trust with their teachers and friends should they need help. Talks combined with high energy dancing and role play, these workshops leave the students buzzing and confident. These workshops are delivered by Flava and they also include one of their award winning performances!!!!!

 

We, at Northbury Junior, have been fortunate to have Flava deliver their This Is ME workshop to our Yr 6 pupils. After this workshop our students have gained confidence to dance, act, speak aloud etc.
